Maquiladora workers have been so limited by the frame of their own circumstances and the larger economic and corrupt political system, specifically in Mexico. To view Mexico from inside the home directly engages with the home as a safe place– a sanctuary. However, sanctuaries are not impermeable. The outside, the elements, the workplace, violence, discrimination, often find ways to enter the home, either by force or through ourselves. The artist engages archival footage alongside her own recordings in this piece. There is no audio.
